Developing our sustainability strategy with a growth mindset
At Holex Flower, we are committed to sustainability and continually seek ways to improve our practices. We know that working toward a greener future is essential, and we are dedicated to implementing better solutions wherever possible. Over the coming year, we have several initiatives planned that we are excited to share. These steps are part of our journey to create a more sustainable floral industry, and we invite you to join us in making a positive impact.
Dutch Flower Group’s IMPACT30 strategy
Holex Flower is proud to be part of the Dutch Flower Group (DFG). DFG’s commitment to sustainability is embodied in its IMPACT30 strategy, which aims to create a positive environmental and social impact through every aspect of the business. IMPACT30 focuses on three key areas:
- Transparency in the supply chain – We believe that improving the floral supply chain is only possible through collective action. By collaborating with stakeholders across the industry, DFG aims to increase transparency and promote sustainable practices throughout the sector.
- Supporting people in our supply chain – We are dedicated to helping vulnerable communities and fostering a sustainable workplace culture. Holex supports initiatives like Honey Highway to promote environmental and social well-being at the local level.
- Protecting the planet – Reducing environmental impact is essential for a sustainable future. Our efforts focus on improving our business processes and products to create an eco-friendlier value chain.

IMPACT30 is linked to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the “2030 Agenda.” These goals, established by the UN in 2015, aim to eliminate extreme poverty, reduce inequality, and protect the planet. DFG’s IMPACT30 strategy directly supports several SDGs.
FSI basket of standards: simplifying certification
As part of our commitment to sustainability, Holex Flower is working toward compliance with the Floriculture Sustainability Initiative (FSI) basket of standards. FSI compliance streamlines certification processes, making it easier for customers to identify and trust the sustainability of our products. To support this, we’ve introduced a new feature on our webshop that allows customers to filter and find FSI-compliant products, giving them confidence that they are selecting flowers meeting high sustainability standards. For more information on FSI standards and goals, please visit www.fsi2025.com.

Reducing plastic, packaging, and air freight space
We are constantly looking for improvements to further our sustainability goals. Among these are efforts to reduce plastic usage, cut down on packaging materials, and optimize air freight space. Each of these steps helps us minimize waste and environmental impact.
One way we’re minimizing plastic use is by transitioning to paper sleeves for products like tulips, wherever possible. We also aim to recycle materials and use circular plastics in our packaging. For items that require plastic sleeves, we prioritize using recycled plastic. Additionally, by packing more flowers at the grower level, we reduce waste throughout the supply chain, making it easier to deliver fresh flowers with less environmental impact.

More efficient packing
Although this may not be immediately visible to customers, our focus on packing efficiency is a significant sustainability project for 2025. We are working to refine our internal packing systems, using better boxes and packing methods that require less air freight space. By optimizing packing methods, we can reduce packaging materials, air freight costs, and transportation expenses, benefiting our customers as well.
Staying in touch
As we progress on our sustainability journey, we will keep our customers informed about our plans and updates. We know that transparency is essential, and we want our customers to feel confident in the sustainable practices behind their purchases.
