Vanda: everything you want to know
Oh, what an astounding mystical appearance a flower can have! The orchid family may be extensive and numerous, but Vanda is one of the most striking. Discovered in 1613, the Vanda plant originally grew on the southern slopes of the Himalayas, from the southern part of China to India. There, the orchid grew high in the trees of the jungle, which was possible because of its spongy aerial roots. To attract insects for pollination in such an inhospitable place, Vanda had to stand out, and with success. The flower comes in amazing rich colors, even blue, an uncommon color in the world of flowers.
The symbol for friendship
Vanda is the national flower of Singapore and is also often used in flower crowns in Hawaii. There are around 100 Vanda species known. The general symbolism of the orchid is pure friendship. The blue Vanda, the original color of this flower, stands for peace in India.

Which types of Vanda are available?
The big flowers and the color palette make the Vanda a real gem, it’s the orchid with the most colorful color palette. Continuous breeding has made the Vanda into an orchid with a diverse and attractive color palette. Next to the original color blue, the flower is also available in brown, burgundy, cerise, pink, yellow, green, lavender, orange, white, red, and different shades of purple. Nor is it afraid of pattern: Vanda’s five petals feature spots and stripes.
